DESTINATION DATABASE

Mark alert checklist

You must create a database to store information about attractions and places of interest around the country. This will be used to search for suitable destinations for the trips.

The data you need has been provided in this text file. You can find out what the data items are by looking at this list.

Design and build a suitable database structure to store the data. Make sure that each field has a suitable name, data type, format and length. You must validate the category, type and region fields.

Import the data set. If records are rejected, check that your validation rules work as intended.

What's special in your area?

The database needs to be customised for your area. You must add details for at least five possible destinations in your area. There must be at least one in each category.

Carry out research and make sure you gather all the data you need for at least five new destinations.

Create a new record for each destination. You will need to use this table to find the correct region for each one.

You need to save this for your eportfolio Save evidence of your new records for your eportfolio. Do NOT include the database itself.

Update your sources table.

Update your ongoing plan and use your project log to explain how you decided which destinations to add.
