Planning the structure

Start planning your e-portfolio straight-away.

Set up a filing structure and decide on a file-naming convention.

Use the checklist in the brief to find out what must be included - make a note on your plan.

It's not just the finished products that go in the portfolio - you will also be expected to put in evidence of work in progress.

Creating an e-portfolio

How do I get good marks?

  • Make sure your e-portfolio has a structure that is easy to navigate.
  • Make sure that your links work!
  • Convert all the content into acceptable file formats - pdf, html, swf.
  • Make sure that the eportfolio is within the maximum size limit (15 Mb).
  • Make sure that you have included all the final products and enough supporting evidence.
  • Make your eportfolio attractive so that other people will want to read it.
  • Include an authentication from your tutor that this is all your own work.
  • Make use of your plan.

What will lose me marks?

  • If your eportfolio navigation is not clear and it is difficult to find things.
  • If some of your links do not work or some of your work is missing.
  • If some things don't work because you have not understood the technical side sufficiently.
  • If you have included files that are not in acceptable formats eg. an Excel spreadsheet.
  • If your eportfolio is too big.
  • If your work looks the same as someone else's.
