GATHERING ELEMENTS

mark alert checklist

Once you have a detailed design for a product, you must gather the elements you need.

As you gather the elements, make sure you save them using a logical storage system and sensible file names so that you can find what you need easily.

Create an elements table to record details of each element.

Here is an example of an elements table to start you off.handy hint

Using existing information

Have you already got elements you can use? For example, you may be able to re-use photos or drawings from other work.

These websites allow you to use some or all of the images. You must read the terms and conditions of use to make sure you are using them correctly.

Make sure that you have permission to use and edit information from secondary sources.

Producing original information

You will need to create some elements yourself using a range of primary sources. For example, you could take photographs, produce drawings.

Creating elements yourself takes time, so allow plenty of time for editing.handy hint

Save your completed elements table for your eportfolio.
