Get Set for 2012

D203 Graphics Summative Project Brief 2006

INTRODUCTION

In his speech to the Internal Olympic Committee, Sebastian Coe said “ London's vision is to reach young people all around the world.  To connect them with the inspirational power of the Games.  So they are inspired to choose sport.”

Now that London has won the bid to host the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games we have to start planning to make them a success – and it would be great to win some medals too! If you want to be involved in 2012 you should ‘get set’ now. Have a look at this website to see what you could do.

The Get Set! campaign aims to encourage young people to get involved in preparations for the Olympics. Many activities are planned, including a sports tournament and a fun run.

For your project you will produce a range of graphic products for the campaign. Some of them require you to focus on one of the Olympic or Paralympic sports. There are many exciting options to choose from, for example, did you know that BMX will be included next time?

You will present your graphic products in an eportfolio, along with some supporting evidence of your work on the project. Creating your eportfolio is an important part of your project and you should allow plenty of time for this in your project plan.

So, what should you do first?

Read the whole project brief to find out what you have to do.

Make sure you understand what all the symbols mean. These are explained on the home page.

Now you should be ready to start planning!
