Hint1
Each hint will suggest something to think about when working on a task.
Introduction
Plan
Hint1
For example, don't forget to include the time it takes to produce the plan!
Hint2
Which items need to be completed before others begin? Which things can be worked on at the same time? What can be done away from the classroom?
Hint3
Try to be realistic, things can go wrong. But keep an eye on the total time as well.
Hint4
This is where you and your peers can help one another out. You might work in pairs or groups and offer constructive comments on each others work. This needs to be planned!
Hint5
Allow realistic amounts of time and stick to them. Allow for contingencies. Things can go wrong.
Hint6
If your plan is going wrong, be open about it. Talk to your teacher. Now is the time to sort it out!
Monitoring
Hint1
You can only gain higher marks if you clearly show how you have used your plan during the project.
Hint2
You might even want to consider using links to a comments document stored separately.
Investigating requirements
Identifying assets
Hint1
Make sure that you use a wide variety of different types of asset, not just many of one type.
Hint2
If you are using an asset in more than one product, remember that you might have to repurpose it (e.g. change size or resolution) to make it suitable for the other product.
Hint3
Make sure you indicate where each will be used.
Gathering assets
Hint1
Make sure that it is suitable for its intended purpose and that it is not simply a demonstration of your multimedia skills.
Hint2
Consider cropping unnecessary content and/or reducing file size. You may even need to change the file type.
Hint3
Avoid general statements such as "Everyone says I worked very hard on this." or "I would do exactly the same next time."
e-learning package
Hint1
It should show how a user will be able to navigate around the product.
Hint2
Decide whether you want the user to choose their own way around the product or if you want to guide them along a particular route.
Hint3
Refer to your design at regular intervals, but remember things can be changed if there is good reason to do so. Do not forget to update your plan to show what has taken place.
Movie
Hint1
You may prefer to produce this along a time line to show how the scenes fit together. You could include the sound track details on the same time line.
Hint2
You should incorporate feedback from others, such as:
Presentation
eportolio
Hint1
It is not just the content of the eportfolio that matters – the eportfolio itself is worth 9 out of 42 marks – that’s over 20%!
Hint2
Don’t automatically include everything you have stored as you went along – only include evidence that is going to help gain you marks.
Hint3
The first rule is to keep the navigation simple and consistent. Some links will appear on every web page. Others will vary depending on what the page is for.
Hint4
Who you are, your registration number and your centre name and number
Hint5
Hint6
Do NOT use absolute links to go to pages or files within your eportfolio. Try saving your eportfolio onto a CD and running on a standalone computer.
Hint7
You could help them by giving them the list you created earlier and the mark alert but first ask them to try finding their way around without help.
Hint8
If your eportfolio is too big, check your individual file sizes – you may find that you can change the format or reduce the file size of images.
