TRIPS - Decision Mark alert checklist

You need to use a spreadsheet to help you make your final selections. It must calculate the costs for each of the shortlisted trips.

Budget

You have a budget of £100 per student overall for the four trips.

In addition to the 80 students there are 8 teachers who will travel free. Their entrance costs will be covered by the local council.

What you need to find out

Your spreadsheet must compare the destinations for each trip and show useful information including:

You must decide on the variables you need such as travel distance and cost, time at destination, entrance cost (using group rates where possible), etc. You must use the data in this table to calculate coach hire costs.

Coach hire charges (53 seater)
Driving time, per hour
£25.00
Waiting at destination, per hour
£20.00
Mileage, per mile First 100 miles
£1.20
Each mile over 100
£0.90

Create the spreadsheet. It must be formatted so that the results are very clear.

Test the spreadsheet thoroughly.

Use the information in your spreadsheet to decide on the destination for each trip. Make sure that you are within budget.

Ask suitable test users for feedback. Are the results clear and accurate? Make changes if necessary.

You need to save this for your eportfolio Save your final spreadsheet in your Welcome folder so that the moderator can view the results and the formulae.

Update your ongoing plan and use your project log to explain how you used the spreadsheet to make your final decision on which trips to offer.
