THE MAKE SPACE CLUB LAUNCH – Project Overview

You have been asked to help launch a new Make Space Club where you live.

Where do you start?

This project is about the launch of a new Make Space Club in your area. Find out more about the Make Space campaign by visiting the website. You will need some background information for your publications.

You must:

Choose an activity for the club

Every Make Space Club has three areas – the ‘chill out space’, the ‘activity space’ and the ‘quiet space’. You must decide on an activity for the ‘activity space’.

To help you make your decision you will carry out some research to find out what is already available where you live and decide on three possible new activities that could be offered by the club. Then you will conduct a survey of local young people to find out which of the three activities they would prefer.

Your options for activities could involve sport, art, craft, music, dance, drama, politics, games, activities for young people with particular needs, voluntary work, fundraising, or anything else that you are confident will be a success.

Produce a newsletter

The club will publish a monthly newsletter. You must produce the first issue of the newsletter. It will be available at the launch and will include details of your chosen activity.

Create an information point

On the day of the launch there will be an information point about the Make Space campaign. You must create this information point. It will include results from your survey as well as details of your chosen activity.

Prepare a database demonstration

At the launch there will be a demonstration of a new database for club members. The database will provide information about organisations for young people. You must create the database and produce sample reports for the demonstration.
