Make Space
D201 Using ICT Summative Project Brief 2006.
PLANNING YOUR TIME
This is a big project! You need to plan carefully to make sure that you finish everything and meet the deadline. Don't forget that some tasks can be carried out away from the classroom and you should make good use of this time.
1 What do you need to produce?
Make sure you understand:
- exactly what evidence is required
For each publication, you must work out what information you need and where you will get it from.
Use a mind map and/or table to help you.
2 What needs to be done?
You must identify:
- all the main tasks
- if it takes time, it should be in your plan

- the sub-tasks for each main task

- the order in which you will carry out the tasks

- how much time to allow for each task and sub–task

- what you will do in class and what you will do at home (check this with your teacher)
- your test users and reviewers and when they are available

3 Produce a plan
Produce a detailed plan that will enable you to complete all the tasks and meet the deadline.
There are no rules about the software you use or what your plan should look like but it must show:
- a start date and finish date for the project
- all the main tasks and sub-tasks in a logical order
- the amount of time you plan to spend on each task and sub–task with start and finish dates

- whether a task or sub-task is to be completed in class or at home
- checkpoints when you will review your progress with your teacher and agree any changes you need to make to your plan.

Use your plan as you work through the project. Click the link 'Monitoring' for help with this.
